Star Portfolio: Will Smith

Will Smith is an american tv and film actor born september 25th 1968. He first gained succes in the tv show the fresh prince of bel air but this went on to greater film succes. His most popular films are ‘Independence day’, ‘Men in black’ and ‘I am Legend’. When will smith first started his acting carrier he was mainly just a comedian but ever since then he has started to play more serious roles in films such as ‘The pursuit of happiness’

File:Bad Boys.jpg

His first major box office film ‘Bad boys’  where will smith plays the role of a detective in the narcotic division and when there is a massive amount of heroin stolen from a police vault they have five days to find it before there narcotics dividion gets shutdown. Since this film is not part of a franchise will smith plays a massive part of selling this film because people recognise him from tv. This poster shows how he is used to advertise the film with him being one of the main characters on the poster and his name in bold text at the top, however he is also supported by martin lawrence in advertising it so that he is not the main actor/star. This film fits in well with his main style of acting/character that he plays how he is not always serious and is funny.

The most popular serious film that will smith performed in is the 2006 film ‘the pursuit of happyness’. In this film will smith forgets his comedy role in his usual films and plays a more serious role. In this film will smith plays the role of a man who loses alot of money by not being able to sell bone density scanners which he invested all of his money and eventually becomes homeless. The film was number one in the box office for 5 days and making a gross of $306,086,036. This shows that most of will smiths fans enjoy his films for him not the roles that he plays.

The Dark Knight marketing portfolio

This is the trailer for the film the dark knight the main purpose of this trailer is to show the action of the film it completes this by showing the main parts of the film and cutting every couple of seconds. However there is the occasional parts in the trailer where it is a scene with one of the main characters talking this helps in showing the moods of the characters and a bit of there back story to the viewers so they can guess who is good and who is the bad guy in this film. One of the problems of this trailer is that it shots some of the main and best scenes of the film this will make more people want to see it but at the same time gives away to much of the story. The trailer is successful in what it was made for by showing the type of genre and showing what the film is about not just aiming at viewers who are popular to the batman franchise.

This poster is one of the many posters used to advertise the dark knight. The posters shows the mood of the film by using a dark blue filter to make it look dark and moody. At the top of the poster it says ‘welcome to a world without rules’ this text is used to show some of what the film is about such as there is now no law and the city is falling apart. With the main character in the centre bottom of the picture under neath the explosion we are not sure wether he is bad or good however people familier with the franchise of this fil will know who he is.

This is another poster for the dark knight apart from this time it shows the other main character the joker. This poster uses the same dark blue filter as the first poster to show the same effects. The main feature in this poster is the fact that its is taken tilted to the side and at an angle looking up. The fact that the camera is looking up to him at an angle shows that the joker is a powerfull figure in this film. Because its on a tilt it shows that there is something wrong with this man this fits well with his bizzare face paint.
